I am a woman of the Baby Boom generation who is helping to care for parents who grew up during the Great Depression, older elders who are in their final months, or perhaps weeks --or, less likely but possible, years.
Originally I was going to build a blog called "The Elder Chronicles." But that was a couple of years ago, and caregiving takes so much time and energy that the Elder Chronicles never got chronicled. For some reason, in this later and more intense phase of caregiving, the words started pouring out of me. I'm a writer, so I had to write them down.
I had also thought of a series of essays called, naturally, "The Elder Essays." I may still publish them in some form other than this blog. Therefore, please note the following invitation and caution.
Please feel welcome to take part in conversation on this blog by reading and commenting, and feel free to share links both to the blog and to individual blog posts and to quote from the blog (with attribution, please). I'm happy for the conversation to be broad and public. Many of us are dealing with the cluster of realities addressed by the blog* and we need to talk with each other and talk about the people, situations, and systems we are encountering.
Please don't quote me without attribution and please don't plagiarize. (Yes, this has happened to me, and by people who ought to know better.) Note the copyright information at the bottom (footer) of the blog. All posts on this blog are the intellectual property of Jane C. Redmont. That's me.
